The story of Ole Vermeer

Responsibility Isn't Given. It's Earned.

How much responsibility do you give a young engineer? At AAApropulsion, we believe responsibility is the fastest way to develop talent.

I'm Ole.

Engineer and Service Engineer at AAApropulsion. When I joined the company, I quickly had the opportunity to do much more than design behind a computer. From the very beginning, I became involved in the complete process: engineering, production, testing and eventually projects on site. That combination of disciplines is what made the difference for me.

What makes AAApropulsion different is that you don't have to wait years before you're trusted with responsibility. Of course, you don't start on your own. I've learned a tremendous amount from the people around me.

Erik has taught me how important collaboration really is. He shows how every department is connected and how successful projects depend on clear commitments and effective communication.

Hans has taught me that quality isn't something you inspect afterwards. He always looks ahead and shares the practical knowledge he gained during many years in international service. Every day, I learn what needs to be considered during engineering and production to ensure reliable performance later on.

Semih has shown me how to engineer with the end user in mind. It's not only about developing a technically sound solution. It's about asking the right questions: How will this system be installed? How will it be maintained five or ten years from now? And what does this design decision mean for the customer throughout the vessel's operational life?

That combination of knowledge and experience is incredibly valuable. It helps you grow not only as an engineer, but also to understand why certain decisions are made.

Today, I'm involved in the engineering of new propulsion systems, I work alongside our production team and I participate in Factory Acceptance Tests. After that, I also support projects on site.

I've worked on projects at OCEA in France, where you see an engineering design become a fully operational propulsion system on board a vessel. Today, I'm also trusted to support customers independently, including international assignments in Singapore.

That trust isn't given. It's earned, step by step.

And because experienced colleagues invest their knowledge in me every day, I'm able to take that responsibility myself today.

What Does This Mean for the Customer?

For our customers, it means they don't deal with isolated departments. They work with people who understand the complete lifecycle of a propulsion system.

We know how a system was engineered, how it was built, how it was tested and how it performs in daily operation. That enables us to respond faster, think along with our customers and provide effective support wherever it is needed.

At AAApropulsion, we don't just build electric propulsion systems. We build people.

Because technology creates performance. People create confidence.
